Same Here is built to be anonymous. We collect the minimum we need to run the app and we never sell your data or use it for advertising.

What we collect

Sign-in identity: your email address, or the (often private-relay) email Apple shares when you use Sign in with Apple. It is used only to sign you in and is never shown to other users.

Your anonymous profile: your generated username, animal avatar, avatar color and join date. These are shown with your posts.

Your ZIP code: stored privately. It is used only to decide which posts appear in the "Within 10 miles" feed and is never shown on your posts or profile. Each post keeps the ZIP you had when you wrote it. We never request GPS or device location.

What you do in the app: your posts, your votes, reports you file and accounts you block.

Basic technical data our hosting provider logs to keep the service secure (for example IP addresses in server logs), retained for a short period.

If you allow notifications: a device token so we can tell you when your posts reach vote milestones, and occasionally remind you of the day’s question if you haven’t opened the app in a while. You can turn off reminders in the app’s Settings, or all notifications in your iPhone’s Settings.

What others can see

Other people see your username, avatar, post text, when you posted, and the agreement percentage. They cannot see your email, ZIP code, location, or which posts you voted on. Vote counts on a post are only shown to its author and to people who have voted on it.

How we use it

To operate the app, enforce posting limits and community rules, review reports, prevent spam and abuse, and keep the service secure.

Posts are screened automatically when you post them. Posts that contain personal information are not published and their text is not kept. Posts blocked for threats of violence are kept privately so we can review them. Other blocked attempts are deleted after 30 days.

Sharing

We use Supabase to host our database and authentication, Apple for Sign in with Apple, and Resend to send sign-in codes and internal safety alerts. We disclose information if required by law or to protect someone from serious harm, including reporting credible threats of violence to law enforcement. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account anytime in Settings. This deletes your sign-in identity (and, if you used Sign in with Apple, disconnects same here. from your Apple ID), profile, ZIP code, posts, votes, reports and blocks. Records of moderation decisions are kept without any link to your account. If an account is banned, we keep a one-way cryptographic hash of its email address so the ban can be enforced if the same email is used again.

Children

Same Here is only for adults 18 and older. Do not use it if you are under 18. On devices where Apple shares an age range, we ask for it when you create an account and do not let people under 18 sign up. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we delete it.
